Section 24
Punishment if a prisoner escapes or runs away

(1) If anyone other than the prisoner or the prisoner runs away or attempts to run away the prisoner or prisoner, he shall be punished as follows -

(2) Imprisonment up to two years or fine up to five hundred rupees in case of escape of other detainees or prisoners, provided that while punishing according to this section, the escaped detainees or prisoners have been or may be The punishment shall not be more than half of the remaining imprisonment.
(e) For any person who engages in the escape of a detainee or prisoner, if the detainee or prisoner is caught before he escapes, imprisonment up to 6 months or a fine up to two hundred rupees.
(2) If the person mentioned in Clause (a), (b) or (c) of sub-section (1) has to understand or make a mistake for fleeing any prisoner or prisoner, then the person who flees must be compensated.
(3) If a prisoner whose term of imprisonment has expired, escapes, after being caught, he will be punished by one and a half times the remaining imprisonment.

(6) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (3), (4) or (5), the punishment shall not be more than twenty years of imprisonment in accordance with the said sub-sections.
